MINUTES
GLACIER LAKES CHAPTER ACBS
APRIL 16, 2010

General Meeting: Present: Mary and Wil Vidal, Jay and Judy Wagner, Frank and Helen Petran, Bob Stoltz, Mike and Kathy Gingress, Rick and Kathy Malle, Mark and Mary Willis, Glen and Carla Schubert, Jack Schneiberg, Mark Walters and Jane Adams, Peter Harken and Marcella Minghy, Gary and Sue Rechcygl, Karl Johns and Sue Schroeder, Don Emigholz, Tom Selhausen, Walter Wilde, Jeff and Linda Allen, Andy and Cyndee McCormick, Rick and Beth Lepping

Mark Walters introduced himself, passed out the meeting agenda, and asked for an introduction of members, which began at 6:45 pm. Members announced their boats, partners, and friends! Following the introduction, everyone ate. Meeting resumed at 7:50 PM.

Linda distributed the minutes from the board and membership meeting on 1/10/10. Bob approved the minutes as read and they were 2nd by Karl.

Jack reported on the Chapter Incorporation and Federal Tax ID. The club is officially incorporated. We are a non-stock corporation and have a sellers permit number. We are not tax exempt. By acquiring this status, it protects assets of the officers from liability and allows benefits when purchasing. The tax exemption fee is $500 and will not be done. There is an umbrella with ACBS, trying to get chapters to obtain tax exemptions. We will await the results which in turn would allow a tax write off for donations.

Mary Willis reported that we currently have $2100.41 in our checking account. We received $200 for the pier fund (still owe $20,000). Wil stated that we are trying to pay off $5000/year without interest rate. We may add modules in the future. Mary reported
Expenses: $605.88 for ¼ newsletters, $149 for awards. Income: $930 for membership, $50 posters/hats and $1742 deposit from Pewaukee Boat Show. Approved by Jay and 2nd by Mark Willis.

Linda reported on membership report from Gayle Ritter. All but two families renewed for 2010. So far in 2010, we have 13 new members, including two families this past week. They were Joe Zelinski from Oshkosh with a 1951 Chris Craft and Dave Moehrke from Brooklyn, WI with a 1957 fiberglass boat. All members will be entered into the website. If people are interested, there is a separate Century Boat Club. Information can be found at www.centuryboatclub.com. Rob and Gayle are waiting to get their sailboat schedule so they can pick a date for the Okauchee outing the end of July. A vote was taken to see if a Saturday or Sunday was preferred. Saturday unanimously won!

Wil discussed the Pewaukee Boat Show, scheduled for 8/21. As the show grows, we may need more pier sections. Mary Schwister is doing well with PR. John Constable's ad agency will ask Gus Gonorski to report on the show again (Channel 6 news). Frank Petran will double the toy boat count from 100 to 200, as they were very successful with the children. A new addition to the show, is the world's biggest ice boat, designed in 1937 and owned by Peter Harken. It is 50 feet long and a mast > 50 feet. It was restored by Rick Henning in Racine. Thank-you to Peter, for arranging for the boat to be in the show. The next Pewaukee boat meeting will be at the Pewaukee Yacht Club on 5/6.

Wil distributed a roster of club members. He will announce any new members, to be added to the roster, in the newsletter. This was voted upon and approved by all.

Andy discussed the Madison Boat Show. Funds raised for this show are donated to the M.S. Society. The same venue will take place on 8/6 and 8/7 at Christy's Landing. On Friday, the group will lunch at the Elks; go through the lockes to the governor's mansion, a few bars, and a fish fry at Christy's.

Quite a few people raised their hands that they are attending the Eagle River outing on 6/18-6/20.

Wil updated the international ACBS outing planned for Lake Geneva 9/20-9/24/ 2011. Gage Marine will bring big boats. People will come from all over the US and Canada. George Plamondon, president of Blackhawk Chapter, will bring "Miss America," previously owned by Garfield Wood.

Other events include Okauchee, date TBA and a Chicago River trip in July.
Peter Meisbauer is in need of more pictures and stories for the web site. The next newsletter will be sent out in May. Jack reported on the Muscatine Boat Show. A new ACBS chapter may come out of this area.

Miscellaneous: Frank commented on the comradery of the club's members and that the relationship with Blackhawk chapter has also improved. Many commented on the friendliness of Glacier Lakes Members!

A motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:35 PM was made by Jack and 2nd by Karl.

Respectfully submitted by Linda Allen, secretary

GLACIER LAKES CHAPTER ACBS
January 10, 2010

Board Meeting: Present: Mark Walters, John Baumann, Linda Allen, Wil Vidal, John Constable, Jay Wagner, Jack Schneiberg, Dave Doyle, Gayle Ritter, Howard Schneider, Mary and Mark Willis, and Peter Meisbauer.

Called to order at 8:45 am. Mark Walters wanted to discuss locations of the meetings. Wil suggested further west. Highway Harry’s was suggested for the next meeting and Jay volunteered to organize the fish fry meeting. Linda suggested having some 1 day outings with boating and picnics. Gayle volunteered her house for one.

Tax exempt status. Jack relayed that Will is looking into members of the boat clubs checking into tax exemptions. Our fiscal year ended 11/09. A problem was brought up that we are not well organized to either incorporate or register LLC. Jack is willing to do the organizing, but the club must decide which one. We are currently chartered for 4.5 years. Wil stated the advantage or disadvantage for donations to the club. Jack recommended moving forward. The cost to incorporate is $150. An LLC files tax returns and is much more informal. The reason to have it is to protect members. It costs $110 the first time and $50 annual fee. Jack recommends an LLC. Before a vote, Jack will talk with Jim Meisman from ACBS. John B motioned to proceed with the LLC investigation. This was 2nd by Jay and all in favor.

2010 Budget: Mark suggested pulling all books together; i.e. Madison/Pewaukee/Glacier Lakes Chapter, for the end of the year financial report. No need to change check books. Everyone present agreed.

Wil suggested that Mark needs to begin to think about a location for the fall banquet. Meeting closed at 9:10 am.

Vice Commodore: Jack had no news to report for this position.

Pewaukee Boat show:
Wil reported that we still owe approx. $20,000 for the Mod-U-Dock pier. A $4000 donation was made in ’09 and $5000 in ’08. The Pewaukee books still have approx. $1600 in their account.

Membership: Our membership report was given by Gayle. She reported that Glacier Lakes is the fastest growing club in ACBS. 2009 had 133 members with 25 new members. Our newest members are David and Karen Peck from Appleton. Please renew your membership.

2011 National Meeting: Lake Geneva’s Abby will host this meeting. Wil reported that ACBS Boat Committee organizes the event, but will look at our chapter to assist with “manpower” to assist in activities.

Boat Shows: Mark reported the Madison show will be 8/6 and 8/7. The kickoff meeting will be in January. It will be the same format with the river trip, visit the governor’s mansion, and the show on Sat. John C. shared the poster picture for the Pewaukee show. Dates of the new shows will be displayed that the State Fair Boat Show. Wil suggested that the club should recognize boats brought to 2 or more shows. The award could be presented at the annual banquet. Pete suggested an award, instead, for the “most outings attended.” John C. is encouraging new ideas for shows. He is looking into “mini-boat” for kid’s rides. There is a Chris Craft 12-13’ replica, that we are on a list for the boat kit, that the Pewaukee Boy Scouts will work on. It is about an 80 hour project. Mark encouraged everyone to attend the Eagle River Show.
