Information -
This classic was delivered on October 30th, 1947 to the
Macy’s Marina on Wawasee Lake in Syracuse, Indiana. The
first 40 years of the boat’s existence have been difficult
to track. However, in the 1980’s the boat came to Wisconsin
where it spent the next
decade or so on Lake Geneva. In 1995, an individual from the Waukesha
area bought the boat after the Lake Geneva owner became ill. In
2001, Mark and Jon Walters convinced the current owner they would
provide a caring home to the classic.
Upon taking possession, Mark and Jon immediately relocated the
boat to Jon’s home in Georgia for the major restoration
required to bring it back to its original glory. The rehab included
repairing ribs/stringers, installing a new bottom (now 5200),
replacing planks, and rebuilding the KL engine. Jon worked tirelessly
on the boat with Mark flying down whenever possible to assist
in the project. After three years of blood, sweat, and beers,
the boat was completed in 2003.
“Walt’s Woody” now resides on Lake Waubesa in
Madison, Wisconsin. Jane Adams and Mark Walters enjoy Friday nights
cruising, Sunday breakfasts and the occasional boat show.
